Why do countries offer VISA-FREE travel to Canadian PR holders?
Canada passport is one of the strongest passports in the world. As of 2025, It’s ranked at 7th, higher than even the US passport (9th) by Henley & Partners.
Now, a Canadian PR holder will soon going to become a Canadian citizen and will acquire a Canadian passport. Obviosly, a Canadian PR holder will not jeopardize their changes of becoming a Canadian citizen by illegally immigrating to another country, say Mexico.
Acquiring Canadian citizenship is no joke. You will have to first study or work in Canada or qualify for Canada skilled labor program. That means, you must have the background and means to migrate to Canada. After putting that much of effort, time and money to migrate to Canada, it does not make sense for anyone to stay illegally in another country.
So for these reasons, some countries trust Canadian PR holders and offer VISA-FREE access to them. These coutries treat them almost as if they are Canadian citizens.
Now, let’s look at what these countries are and what do you need to visit them VISA-FREE.
