Hi,
I’ve arrived in the UK with a spouse visa, and we want to travel to Turkey for a holiday. However, I don’t have a BRP card as I have an E-visa now in the UK. So, what do I need as a supporting document? A share code?
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Muzammil! Yes, you would just need to enter your share code for “Supporting Doc. No.”. Carry your immigration status/eVisa either as a print or on smartphone when you travel.
Nisa says
I’m looking to travel to turkey on a South African passport with a UK brp just I did not see my country on this list, can you help
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Nisa! South African passport holders can obtain FREE e-Visa for Turkey. I see that “South Africa” is listed in the countries dropdown list. If you still can’t see your country in the list, please email me. Maybe I can apply it for you since it’s free anyway.
Wissam says
Hi Thirumal,
I hold a passport from “Dominica” but I have a valid 5 year UK tourist visa. However when I select my passport on the website I cannot proceed to next step as it says “Unfortunately, nationals of the country that you selected are not eligible for e-Visa. Kindly visit the nearest Turkish mission to apply for a visa application. Please visit http://www.visa.gov.tr for the full list of the Turkish Embassies and Consulates.”
it does not let me even proceed to inform them that i have a UK visa.
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Wissam! That’s correct! “Dominica” nationals are not eligible for e-Visa anymore and now they require a sticker visa from the embassy, unfortunately. But when you apply for the visa at the embassy, make sure to emphasize on your UK tourist visa. That would help strengthen your case.
Tahir says
I’m applying for a Turkish e-Visa, but my passport only shows my surname/last name, with no given/first name. What should I enter in the ‘Given Name’ field, as it’s blank in my passport
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Tahir! In your case, you can enter your surname in “given name” field and leave the “surname” field blank. Surname is not a mandatory field so you will be able to continue the application.
Shaq says
Hi Thirumal, thank you very much for detailed explanation which is very much appreciated. Is it essential to book flight and hotels before applying for the visa? Or it it fine to apply for Visa first and then plan flight and hotels? Thank you!
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Shaq! It’s not required to book flight or hotels for Turkey e-Visa. You can apply for your visa first and plan for your flights and hotels later.
Anon says
Hi Thirumal ! What should be the validity of the supporting document? I have a Schengen visa expiring in 2 months on May 22nd , 2024 and I plan on visiting Turkey for a week ( May 01- May 08) with my Indian passport ( expiry date is in 2027). Would this be allowed or do they need the supporting document to be valid for 6 months from the time of arrival as well?
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Anon! The Schengen visa must be valid at the time of entering Turkey. So if your date of arrival is May 1st, your Schengen visa expiration must be May 1st or after. Since your visa expires on May 22nd, your visa will be approved. Keep in mind, the immigration will look at your Schengen visa when you enter, so if your Schengen visa is not valid then, you may be refused entry. This could happen if you plan to travel Turkey after May 22nd.
Elisabeth says
Hi Thirumal, I hold a Nigerian passport and resident in the UK (not ILR, Tier 2). I do have a B1/B2 US visa with 5 year validity on my old passport. Would I be able to apply for Turkey e-visa, when I tried to and included my nationality, the website said I couldn’t proceed further.
I’m just checking if you have more information. Thanks.
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Elisabeth! Unfortunately, Nigerian passport holders are NOT eligible for Turkey e-Visa (even if they hold a US visa). You will have to apply for the visa in person at a Turkish embassy.
Sridhar says
USA B1/B2 visa is on my old passport, I hope that shouldn’t be an issue. I will carry both my old and new passport while traveling. Would you know?
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Sridhar! Yes. It’s allowed. For Turkey eVisa, it’s fine to have your valid US visa in your expired passport. You will have to carry both current and expired passports when you travel to Turkey.
Hafiz Javaid says
I am a Pakistani citizen and have unused expired Schengen visa, can I get e-visa for Turkey?
Thirumal Motati says
Hi Hafiz! For Turkey e-Visa, the Schengen visa must be “Valid”. Therefore, you cannot use your expired Schengen visa to apply for Turkey e-Visa.
