VOA validity

The Visa on Arrival is valid for 30 days. The validity starts from the next day of arrival.

Duration of stay

With Visa on Arrival, you can stay up to 30 days in Taiwan. The 30 days start from the next day of arrival. That means you will have a total of 31 days to spend in Taiwan with Visa on Arrival.

Allowed number of entries

Visa on Arrival is single-entry only. You will get your VOA when you enter Taiwan. Your VOA is void when you leave Taiwan.

Allowed ports of entry

Visa on Arrival can only be obtained at the following international airports in Taiwan.

  • Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
  • Taipei Songshan Airport
  • Taichung International Airport
  • Kaohsiung International Airport

VOA extension

Visa on Arrival cannot be extended or converted to another type of visa.

VOA eligibility

Nationals eligible for Taiwan Visa on Arrival

  • Turkey

Passport holders eligible for Taiwan Visa on Arrival

  • Emergency or temporary passport holders from Visa-Exempt countries (except the US)

Turkish nationals are also eligible to apply for Taiwan eVisa, which is also free of cost. But the eVisa processing takes about 7 days.

Nationals not eligible for VOA may be eligible to apply for a Travel Authorization Certificate or a regular Tourist Visa from a Taiwanese embassy.

Documents required

The following documents are required for Visa on Arrival.

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months at the time of obtaining VOA
  • Completed and printed Visa on Arrival application form
  • Two passport-size photos
  • Confirmed onward or return ticket by air or sea
  • Visa for the next destination (if heading to a third country that requires a visa)

How to fill out the VOA application form

The application form for the Visa on Arrival is the same as the one for a regular tourist visa from the embassy. You must fill out this form online and print it within 30 days before arrival in Taiwan.

All details in the form will be the same as if you are applying for a regular tourist visa. But for step 6, you must fill out the following information.

Step 6:

  • For the question “Area”, select “Asia”
  • For the question “Embassy or mission”, select “Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Branch Office, BOCA, MOFA”

NOTE
If you will be arriving at a different airport and will be converting your temporary entry permit to a visa, you must select the appropriate MOFA branch office.

VOA fee

There is no Visa on Arrival fee for Turkish citizens. But those Visa-Exempt nationals holding emergency or temporary passports have to pay a Visa on Arrival fee of 1,600 TWD plus 800 TWD handling fee.

Processing time

It can take about 5-10 minutes to get the Visa on Arrival at an airport in Taiwan. Since only Turkey passport holders and temporary/emergency passport holders from visa-exempt countries are eligible for VOA, there will rarely be anyone at the Visa Office. There won’t be any lines or waiting for VOA.
