Why do countries offer VISA-FREE access to Schengen residence permit holders?

VISA-FREE Countries for Schengen Residence Permit Holders
VISA-FREE Countries for Schengen Residence Permit Holders | © Visa Traveler

Acquiring a residence in the Schengen zone requires a lot of effort. You must study, work or be related to an EU national to be eligible for a residence permit.

Europe is expensive and studying in Europe requires the financial means to support yourself. Working in Europe also requires the credentials and experience to be hired by a company in Europe.

Residents in the Schengen zone are on the path to becoming citizens of a European country. They are not going to jeopardize their chances of acquiring citizenship in Europe by overstaying their visa or illegally immigrating to a developing nation.

Countries offering VISA-FREE access to Schengen residents understand this. These countries trust and consider them as genuine visitors.

These countries also trust Schengen visa holders. The VISA-FREE countries list for Schengen visa holders is even longer.
