What Australian permanent resident visas are eligible?

Australia offers permanent residency through family, work or business. The following PR visas are eligible.

PathEligible visas
Work– Skilled Independent (subclass 189)
– Skilled Regional (subclass 887)
– Global Talent (subclass 858)
Business– Business Owner (subclass 890 & 892)
– Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 888)
– Business Talent (subclass 132)
– Investor Visa (subclass 891)
Family– Partner visa (subclass 801)
– Relative visas (subclass 835, 836, 837 and 838)
– Parent visas (subclass 103, 143, 804, 864)
– Child visa (subclass 802)

Not all permanent residence visas mention the word “permanent” on them. This could pose a problem with airline staff or immigration officers at the border. They might assume these are some kind of temporary Australian visa.

If you end up in such a situation, you can point them to the word “indefinite” on your visa. All permanent residence visas mention the allowed stay as “indefinite”, which is somewhat synonymous with “permanent residence”.

If that doesn’t help, you can always pull up the visa information on the Australian Department of Home Affairs website to prove that your visa is indeed a permanent residence visa.

If you hold an Australian visa, such as a visitor, study, etc., refer to the VISA-FREE countries for Australian visa article.

Now, let’s look at each of these countries by region, starting from Asia.

Hi Ahmed! With your Egyptian passport and Australian PR, you can visit Armenia, Georgia, and Montenegro in Europe. You will have to obtain Visa on Arrival in Armenia at the airport. Georgia and Montenegro are both visa free.

You said you will be visiting the UK soon. So I’m assuming your have or will obtain a UK visa. You can actually travel to more countries in Europe with your UK visa than your Australian PR. Check out this article on VISA-FREE countries for UK visa.
