As of 2024, about 22 countries and territories are eligible for PNG VOA. Most of these 22 are Pacific Island states.

Understanding Papua New Guinea Visa on Arrival (VOA)
VOA validity
Papua New Guinea Visa on Arrival is valid for 60 days from the date of entry.
Duration of stay
PNG VOA allows you to stay 60 days in the country.
Allowed number of entries
PNG VOA is single-entry only. Once you leave the country, you will have to obtain VOA again in order to re-enter.
Allowed ports of entry
Visa on Arrival facilities are available only at the following ports.
- Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby
- Wutung land border checkpost at Indonesia and PNG border
VOA extension
VOA extensions are allowed in certain conditions but are not guaranteed. Extensions are subject to the authorization of Papua’s Immigration Authority.

Documents required
To obtain Visa on Arrival, you must present the following documents.
- Passport
- Onward or return ticket
- Completed Incoming Passenger Card
- Credit or debit card for visa fee

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months on the day of arrival in Papua New Guinea
Onward or return ticket
A proof of onward ticket is required to obtain PNG Visa on Arrival. This doesn’t have to be a print, you can show it on your smartphone.
Incoming Passenger Card
You will receive a PNG Incoming Passenger Card on your flight to PNG or you can pick one up at the immigration in the airport.
Credit or debit card
PNG Visa on Arrival fee can only be paid using a credit or debit card.
VOA fee
The Visa on Arrival fee is 50 USD payable using credit or debit card. Paying in cash is not allowed. American Express cards are not accepted.
You must also make sure your credit or debit card can be used internationally.

PNG Visa on Arrival Process at Jacksons International Airport
Obtaining Visa on Arrival at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby is very simple. There are proper signs and the immigration officers speak English.
Step 1: Fill out the Incoming Passenger Card
You will receive an arrival card (called Incoming Passenger Card) on your flight to PNG. If not, grab one at the immigration and fill it out. A completed incoming passenger card is required to obtain Visa on Arrival.
Step 2: Obtain Visa on Arrival
At the immigration at Jacksons International Airport, there are counters for “all passports” and counters for passports that require “Visa on Arrival”. Join the line for Visa on Arrival.
When it’s your turn, present your passport, completed incoming passenger card and a copy of your onward or return ticket. Pay the visa fee.
You will receive your visa sticker and an entry stamp on it. Check your visa and entry stamp details to make sure the information is correct.
