As of 2025, there are 30 VISA-FREE countries and territories for Indian passport holders. These countries and territories do not require any visa application. All you need is a valid Indian passport and meet the entry requirements.

Below is the list of VISA-FREE countries for Indians in alphabetical order.

  1. Angola
  2. Barbados
  3. Bhutan

Apart from the above countries, the following territories are also VISA-FREE for Indians.

  1. British Virgin Islands (British Overseas Territory)
  2. Montserrat (British Territory)
  3. Cook Islands (New Zealand Self-governing Associated State)
  4. Niue (New Zealand Self-governing Associated State)

Let’s look at each of these countries in detail.

Asia 

01. Bhutan

  • Passport required: Indian voter card or Indian passport valid for a minimum of 6 months
  • Duration of stay: 14 days with the possibility of extension, subject to immigration approval
  • Entry requirements:
    • Visa is exempt, but Indians must obtain an entry permit at the border, at the airport or online. The following documents are needed for the entry permit at the border/airport: (a) a completed Bhutan entry permit form, (b) a copy of voter ID or passport, and (c) one passport-sized photo.
    • Must pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of 1,200 BTN (or its equivalent in INR) per day for the total duration of the trip. There is no SDF for children below 6, 50% SDF for 6-12 years and full SDF for above 12 years.
    • Children under the age of 18 can use a birth certificate instead of a passport and must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
    • One blank passport page is required for the entry permit stamp.

Personal experience: I traveled to Bhutan on my Indian passport in 2019. I entered Bhutan from India at the Phuentsholing land border. I had to obtain my entry permit at the Immigration Office in Phuentsholing before heading to Paro.

02. Iran

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for a minimum of 6 months
  • Duration of stay: 15 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Allowed to stay 15 days within any 180 days
    • Must enter Iran by air (visa exemption not available if entering via land)
    • Require one blank page in the passport for the entry stamp

03. Kazakhstan

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for a minimum of 6 months
  • Duration of stay: 14 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • The period of stay should not exceed 42 calendar days within a 180-day time frame
    • Must have at least one blank page in the passport

04. Macau

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 90 days beyond the intended period of stay
  • Duration of stay: 30 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must have a valid proof of return or onward ticket
    • Must hold at least MOP 5,000 in cash if the period of stay is 7 days, MOP 10,000 if 8-14 days, MOP 15,000 if 15-21 days and MOP 20,000 if 22 days or longer
    • One blank passport page is required for the entry stamp

Personal experience: I traveled to Macau from Hong Kong by ferry in 2018. I entered Macau at the Outer Harbour ferry terminal. I only had to show my ferry ticket back to Hong Kong.

05. Malaysia (VISA-FREE until 31 Dec 2026)

  • Passport required: Indian passport with at least 6 months of validity at the time of entry
  • Duration of stay: 30 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must hold proof of onward or return travel and proof of hotel booking
    • Must have at least one full blank page in the passport for entry
    • Must fill out the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within 3 days before arrival

IMPORTANT
Malaysia usually requires Indians to have an eVisa or an embassy visa. But from 01 Dec 2023 to 31 Dec 2026, Malaysia offers visa exemption (VISA-FREE) to all Indian tourists.

Personal experience: I have traveled to Malaysia on many occasions using the new visa exemption and previously using the Malaysia eVisa. On most occasions, the immigration officers at the airport asked me for my return ticket and hotel booking.

06. Maldives

  • Passport required: Indian passport with at least 1 month of validity at the time of arrival in the Maldives
  • Duration of stay: 90 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • The total stay in the Maldives can’t exceed 90 days within 6 months
    • One blank page is required for entry and exit stamps
    • Must submit the traveler declaration (arrival/departure card) online on IMUGA within 96 hours before arrival.
    • A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from or having been to a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission in the last 6 days

07. Nepal

  • Passport required: A valid Indian voter ID card or a valid Indian passport
  • Duration of stay: Unlimited 
  • Entry requirements:
    • Children under the age of 18 must carry a birth certificate.

Personal experience: I traveled to Nepal in 2017. I flew into Kathmandu International Airport from New Delhi. I spent about 3 months in Nepal. When leaving, I was asked what I was doing in Nepal, where I live, etc.

08. Thailand

  • Passport required: Indian passport with at least 6 months of validity
  • Duration of stay: 60 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must hold a valid return or onward ticket, accommodation booking for the first few nights and about 20,000 THB as proof of funds in cash or cards.
    • Must submit Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 3 days before arrival
    • Must have one blank passport page for entry stamps (endorsement pages are not considered blank pages)

Personal experience: I have been traveling to Thailand since 2017. I have entered Thailand many times via air and overland using my Indian passport. I have used the visa exemption and previously, visa on arrival. On one occasion, I obtained a 60-day tourist visa from the Thai embassy.

09. Uzbekistan

  • Passport required: Passport valid for at least 90 days more than the period of stay in Uzbekistan
  • Duration of stay: 5 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • This is Uzbekistan’s VISA-FREE regime for transit passengers; you must be in transit to use this VISA-FREE option
    • This VISA-FREE option is only available when arriving at international airports
    • Must hold an onward ticket to a third country within 5 days of arrival

10. Angola

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Duration of stay: 30 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Visitors must have proof of onward or return ticket and proof of accommodation reservation
    • An International Certificate of Vaccination is required
    • The total stay cannot be more than 90 days in a year

11. Mauritius

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid beyond the period of stay
  • Duration of stay: 30 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • The total stay cannot be more than 180 days in a calendar year
    • Must have proof of sufficient funds to cover the length of your stay, a confirmed hotel reservation and a valid onward or return ticket
    • Must have at least one blank page in the passport for the entry stamp
    • Must complete the Mauritius All-in-One Travel Digital Form before arrival
    • Must present a yellow fever vaccination certificate if traveling from a high-risk country

12. Rwanda

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for 6 months
  • Duration of stay: 30 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • One blank page in the passport is required for entry-exit stamps
    • A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from or having been to a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission in the last 6 days

13. Senegal

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for 6 months beyond the date of entry
  • Duration of stay: 90 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must hold proof of onward or return travel, proof of accommodation and proof of sufficient funds
    • Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required
    • One blank page in the passport is required for each stamp

14. Barbados

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for the duration of stay
  • Duration of stay: 90 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must have a return ticket to the country of residence, proof of intended stay in Barbados and evidence of sufficient finances
    • Children under the age of 18 must have parent/guardian approval

15. Dominica

  • Passport required: A valid, up-to-date Indian passport is required. You might also be asked to show a government-issued identification card, such as a driver’s license.
  • Duration of stay: 6 months
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must present proof of return ticket
    • May be asked to show proof of accommodation booking and proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in Dominica

16. Grenada

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 6 months after arrival
  • Duration of stay: 3 months
  • Entry requirement: Must have one blank page in the passport for the entry stamp

17. Haiti

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 6 months 
  • Duration of stay: 3 months
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must pay a $10 tourist fee upon entry
    • Required to have proof of accommodation booking
    • One blank page in the passport is required for entry/exit stamps

18. Jamaica

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for the entire duration of stay
  • Duration of stay: 90 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must hold proof of onward or return travel
    • Must present proof of yellow fever vaccination if traveling from or transiting for more than 12 hours in countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
    • Must have at least one blank page for entry and exit stamps
    • Must fill out the Jamaica Immigration/Customs C5 Card online before arrival

19. St. Kitts and Nevis

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry
  • Duration of stay: 90 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must complete the Immigration and Customs ED Form online before arrival
    • Must have at least one blank page in the passport for entry/exit stamps

20. St. Vincent and the Grenadines

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for the duration of stay
  • Duration of stay: 3 months
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must have a return or onward ticket.
    • Must mention the address of the hotel in the Entry Permit.
    • Must have at least one blank passport page for the entry stamp

21. Trinidad and Tobago

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for 6 months from the intended day of arrival
  • Duration of stay: 90 days
  • Entry requirement: One blank passport page is required for the entry stamp

Oceania

22. Fiji

  • Passport required: Indian passport that doesn’t expire within 6 months of departure from Fiji
  • Duration of stay: 4 months
  • Entry requirements:
    • Proof of return tickets showing the date of departure from Fiji and the next destination
    • Proof of sufficient funds in the form of a bank statement (translated into English)
    • One blank page in the passport is required for the entry stamp

23. Kiribati

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 6 months on the day of departure from Kiribati
  • Duration of stay: 90 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • The total stay cannot exceed 90 days in any given 12-month period
    • One blank page in the passport is required for the entry and exit stamps

24. Micronesia

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for 120 days beyond the date of entry
  • Duration of stay: 30 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must complete the Customs, Immigration & Quarantine Form (CIQ Form) that can be obtained at the airport
    • Must present proof of onward or return travel.

25. Samoa

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 6 months at the time of entry
  • Duration of stay: 60 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must have proof of return or onward travel.
    • Must have a copy of the bank statement.
    • Must have at least one blank page in the passport for entry/exit stamps
    • Must not have any records of deportation from any country.
    • Must not have any health problems that pose a risk to the Samoan population

26. Vanuatu

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Duration of stay: 120 days
  • Entry requirement: Must have one blank passport page for the entry stamp

27. British Virgin Islands (British Overseas Territory)

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for 6 months from the date of entry
  • Duration of stay: 180 days
  • Entry requirement: One blank page in the passport is required for entry and exit stamps

28. Montserrat (British Overseas Territory)

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for 6 months after the planned date of return
  • Duration of stay: 180 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Travelers must comply with Antiguan entry requirements before they can travel to Montserrat, as flights are only from Antigua
    • Must complete the Immigration and Customs Form online within 72 hours before arrival
    • Must have at least one blank page in the passport for entry and exit stamps

29. Cook Islands (New Zealand Self-governing Associated State)

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the planned period of stay
  • Duration of stay: 31 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must have proof of return or onward travel
    • Must have proof of accommodation reservation

30. Niue (New Zealand Self-governing Associated State)

  • Passport required: Indian passport valid for at least 3 months after the planned arrival date
  • Duration of stay: 30 days
  • Entry requirements:
    • Must meet the entry requirements for New Zealand, as flights to Niue are only from New Zealand.
    • Must show proof of pre-booked accommodation for the entire duration of stay, proof of funds to stay in Niue and a confirmed onward or return ticket.
