Mamallapuram is an ancient city of India. It was previously known as Mahabalipuram. It was an ancient seaport city of the Pallava dynasty. The archeological monuments in Mamallapuram dating back to 7th-9th century are the oldest existing examples of South Indian (Dravidian) architecture.
